Sage Boehner Galatians 1-2

Sorry it is so late y’all but today was a crazy day! First off just wanna say I had a great time today at church and then doing the VBS together! I feel it went great and y’all did a great job! Couldn’t be happier with the great community that I am apart of! Well here it goes!!

Galatians chapter 1

There was a lot of great things that came out of chapter 1.  The first BIG thing that stood out to me was 1:3-5 “Grace and peace to you from God our father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be glory for ever and ever, Amen.  I had to read over it a couple times before I truly got it but it is saying that he saved us through his sons death.  He put his OWN son on the cross for US!! I don’t know anyone that would do that! It is also saying that we are rescued from the evil one.  Evil is not taken completely out of our life, and never will be, but we are no longer enslaved to it. YOU were saved to LIVE for God! That is all that you do it should be through Christ and to satisfy and glorify his name.

Another thing that stood out to me was 1:10 “Am i now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am i trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.”  This one stood out to me the most because this verse relates to EVERYONE.  Everyone is always trying to please everyone else when in reality they should do everything to please God.  Paul spoke harshly to the Christians in Galatia because they were in danger and on the wrong track.  They were doing everything for everyones else approval and not the approval of God.  I know y’all are starting school here soon and some will be in a new environment with new people and searching for their approval and their friendship.  Trust that God will lead you to the right people and the right friends that are in the same walk that you are in!

Last but not least 1:23-24 “They only heard the report: “The man who formerly persecuted us is not preaching the faith he once tried to destroy.” and they praised God because of me.” God does not judge you.  He does not punish you for your past.  He is ready to see you change in the present.  Just because you have made mistakes in the past, God does NOT love you any less.  People should be able to look at you and see God through you and your actions.  That is what living for God truly means.

Chapter 2

Again there were a few things that stood out to me in chapter 2 of Galatians.  2:15-19 is most of them.  It is really long but it is pretty much saying that a person is not justified by the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ.  Your life with Jesus is a constant never ending battle.  Jesus is the only person to ever walk to and be PERFECT.  The odds aren’t too good for you to be perfect 😉 but you can ask for God’s forgiveness and trust in him for what he has in store for your life.  Like I said, we can’t and never will be perfect, but putting God first and trusting in him will lead you to a better more fulfilled life than trying to do it on our own. Just because we serve at the church and are nice people doesn’t mean we are “living” for God.  It takes more than that.  It takes standing out and giving our WHOLE life to him and letting him be in complete control of it.

Lastly 2:21 stood out to me the most! It says “I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!”  I get the chills from this because I read in the study notes and it says, “If we could be saved by being good, Christ did not have to die.  But the CROSS is the ONLY way to salvation!”  That just shows you how powerful he and the cross really is.  Something that came to my head first was the song “At the cross” because it says “At the cross I bow my knees, where your blood was shed for me, there’s no greater love than this” and it is so true.  There is NO greater love than GOD’s love.

Well sorry so long but I hope you enjoy it!! I can’t wait for the last weeks we have together!!! I have never felt so good through a whole summer and it’s because of the GREAT community I have!!

Love all you OBterns!!! :))
